Description: This graceful, footed chased brass pitcher is topped with a gorgeous, stylized bird finial. These handcrafted vessels were typically used to contain “ raski,” the sacred wine used in Nepalese Buddhist religious ceremonies. They have deep significance in the Newari culture, where they are used to this day. The intricately worked ewer is in a rich, even brass tone and shows virtually no tarnish or rust. All soldering is solid and the screw top is smooth and tight. There is a small, intentional hole on the side of the screw top. Solid, heavy piece is a little over 6” and weighs just over 14 ounces. Stamped “88” on bottom of finial as well as bottom of piece. Evocative, culturally significant piece ships UPS Ground from Los Angeles. Nepal Traditional Water Vessel Karuwa Dragon Mouth Bird Finial.
