Description: Description This is a great post that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home. It is made of oak and is painted. The original cap is present and there are carved seashells below on 3 sides. The shaft has a tapered column design and the base is square It is notched for the step but freestanding. It measures 47 tall by 6.25 square at top and bottom. Overall it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning but should clean up nicely. There are chips and a light crack where it joined the step and at the base. There are visible seams. Please look at the pictures carefully. About Us My salvage business was born of necessity in 1993 when I started restoring an old Victorian home that had seen better days. I needed doors, staircase parts, fireplace mantles and more, so I contacted the owners of a few local buildings that were scheduled for demolition. I found and purchased all of the things that I needed for my project and lots of extra treasures which I eventually resold. 17 years later this is still my full time job!
