Description: >Offered here is a vintage and original 1935-dated World Series ST. LOUIS CARDINALS "World's Champions" souvenir mini-bat and attached 1935-dated baseball pennant!! Please see all ten photos, as they are an important part of my description. I believe this vintage baseball bat to be a "phantom bat" (but indeed produced in late 1935), as the St. Louis Cardinals "Gashouse Gang" finished only four game back of the National League champion Chicago Cubs and never actually appearing in the 1935 World Series (phantom items have a long history, with makers of tickets and pennants "jumping the gun" in anticipation of a team advancing to play for a championship late in a season, or even prematurely crowning the team as "World Champs"). The bat's lettering is engraved into the barrel, with silvery letters. Found attached to the bat is a vintage 1935-dated St. Louis Cardinals mini-pennant, which measures approximately 10 3/4" x 5 1/4". The pennant features four soft felt tassels that were found tied to the bat (the tassels remain in great condition), with a nifty Cardinals logo. My guess is that this bat/pennant combo was made available for sale at concession stands at Sportsman's Park in St. Louis, Missouri in late 1935 (when the Cards and Cubs were battling down to the wire for the N.L. crown) and possibly into 1936. Any other info. or opinion on this item is most welcome.
