Description: SINCE NO ONE IS APPARENTLY VERY INTERESTED IN TYHIS D-1 I WILL END THE LISTING ON DEC. 1 AND JUST WEAR THE JACKET MYSELF. SO IF YOU LOOK FOR THE LISTING AFTER THAT DATE AND CAN'T FIND IT THAT'S WHY. For Sale in this listing is an original mid- WWII D-1 USAAF mechanics shearling jacket in 98% mint condition: no label (removed when it was de-milled for surplus.) so manufacturer is unknown to me. The ONLY ISSUES I can find are that there is one tooth missing on the front zipper(which still works just fine- you only have to go easy over that spot) and the 8th Air Force decal is faded. Zippers are all original and distinctive (if anyone out there recognizes the manufacturer, maybe by the zippers, I’d sure appreciate some knowledge!) Other than that it's completely intact. No leather or shearling issues at all. I can’t find any sign of repairs or replaced parts. It is apparently a size 44, measuring 22" armpit to armpit front and back. Here are the measurements:ARMPIT TO ARMPIT- 22" FRONT AND BACKSLEEVE LENGTH FROM SHOULDER SEAM- 24 " (L&R)WAIST- 23" BODY LENGTH FROM COLLAR SEAM- 24" FRONT, 2 6" BACKIf you’re reading this then you know just how rare any original WWII vintage D-1 jacket is. Let alone one in such a large size and almost 100% intact! This is an ULTRA-RARE MUSEUM QUALITY absolutely beautiful D-1!All I’ve done with it was give it a gentle hand rubbed coat of lanolin (if you aren’t familiar with lanolin, it’s a heavy oil recovered when sheep are sheared for their wool- perfect for rejuvenating shearling jackets) inside and out, then the outside got a very thin coat of a high quality leather treatment. It needed it. The leather was getting dry and absorbed both treatments readily. The result is a stunningly beautiful original jacket. Check the photos- it’s easy to tell the before and after ones. Of course the leather will lighten up over time which is natural. This really is a museum quality jacket in wearable condition. I’m sure that the “Mighty Eighth Museum would be pleased to have it but it can be yours and you’ll be happy with it. A lot of the reproductions sell for $1500+ so don't miss this once in a lifetime chance at a genuine, original D-1 you won't be disappointed!I’M SO CERTAIN OF IT THAT I’M OFFERING A FULL $ BACK GUARANTEE OF SATISFACTION,LESS SHIPPINGFOR ANY REASON (Other than fit- if you plan to wear it verify dimensions with me before purchasing.
