The original watercolor, is a sweet little quail male and female perched on branches with winter wax berries. These quail live in Humboldt County in the Redwood Forest outside my window. Quail Families gather every evening at 5 for seeds scattered in our deck. There is always a watchman that doesn’t eat but guards the little covey. Everyday I see quail,coons, deer, squirrels, fox, and ravens. Sometimes we see a bobcat or a mountain lion strolling across a little field. Occasionally a bear ambles by. Chipmunks, squirrels and birds are fed daily on our front deck. Coons get a little dog food or fruit now and then. There is no better entertainment online or on tv than to view this live animal show. My passion is the medium of watercolor. I use a combination of loose and tight techniques with layers of M Graham transparent watercolor that make my paintings glow. My inspiration for painting comes from my own rural home in a mountainous redwood forest of far Northern California coast region. (See photos) My husband and I love wildlife and have bird feeders around the property that are lovingly maintained and filled daily. This is where I paint.
