Description: Chatillon sur Seine - Le Pont aux Poissons Original Signed, Titled Woodcut Artist unknown - clearly signed From research I understand this charming beautiful bridge on theRiver Seine was destroyed by bombing in WW2. Thus we can be pretty certain this woodcut was executed pre 1945. Signed in pencil right lower margin but I cannot identify the signature - looks like P or B Garner?? Titled in pencil on the left Image: 19cm x 15cm. Platemark: 21.5cm x 16cm. Sheet: 25cm x 19.5cm. Printed on a sheet of tissue paper thin wove paper. The woodcut is loose, paper hinged from the top and mounted as shown using a pale cream modern mounting board measuring 33cm x 23cm with an aperture of 22cm x 16.5cm Condition - good with no foxing air tears. One pinpoint hole left centre which completely invisible to the naked eye and only seen when held against strong light. One small water spot top left margin and one very feint small diagonal crease just beneath . These are minimal issuesbut I try to be as accurate and honest as possible in descriptions. You can see from the photos they do not detract from the overall image. It shows a tonal line whee an old mount has met the woodcut, but this is completely obscured by the present mount. My photos are in natural daylight. I do not digitally enhance images. I try to ensure what you see is what you get.
