Description: This came from a large collection of hotel travel stickers that I will be listing in the coming weeks. This collection has a wide range of vintage travel and airline labels from around the world. The collector was a part of the Jack Knight Air Mail Society since the 40s. He was also the president of the Aeronautica & Air Label Collectors Club. His name was W. D. Thomas. This collection includes 7,000 original hotel and airmail labels and stickers. There are plenty of options if you're looking to start your own collection or you're a seasoned collector looking for a rare find. History:In 1866 the hotel opened at the time Florence was the capital of Italy. It was originally called Grand Hotel de la Paix. In 1897 Gerardo Kraft bought the establishment, refurnished it, renamed it Grand Hotel and turned it into one of the top houses in Italy. The major attraction was the sumptuous Winter Garden, which became a high society hub. This label measures approx. 6 1/4" x 3" Please see photos above for exact condition.
