Background: Spent a week in Colorado fly fishing this summer and had the opportunity to fish John Miller's ranch on the Colorado River near Granby, CO. It was a beautiful day and we caught some nice trout! To reach the stream, we had to trudge across a flooded field full of cattle. As we headed to the stream, keeping an eye out for steers, John yelled to us, "Don't worry. They won't bother you!" This painting is an interpretation from a photo I took at the end of the day as we set out for our cars to cross the flooded field again. The scene is looking East towards Rocky Mountain National Park. This is painted very much in the impressionistic style from the late 1800's with bold brushwork and extensive use of complimentary colors placed adjacent to each other to bring a vibrancy to the piece.
