Description: For sale is an original oil painting by artist Walt Heard 111 b. 1953. Created after a recent trip to Palo Duro Canyon in NW Texas. Somewhat impressionistic, oil on canvas, size 24 in. x 30 in. The Apache had been driven out of the canyon years before by the Comanche, who in turn were driven out by the U.S. Army. This is a twist, whereby an Apache has returned many years later to his ancestral homeland, armed with a Springfield trapdoor carbine. He spies a calvaryman amongst the Hoo Doos, and ponders. Titled 'Waxahatchie Apache' or 'Palo Duro Hoo Doo Howdy Do'. Will ship in accepted carton for free to lower 48 only. Note: Was painted over a previous painting, and some 'lines' can be realized, hence the lower price. Framed in barnwood frame made by artist.
