He was born in the village of Chopovichi (now Zhytomyr region). He graduated from the Kyiv State Art Institute (1941). Teachers of the specialty - F. Krychevsky, M. Rokytsky. Member of the UAS (1941). From 1943 he participated in all-Union, republican and foreign exhibitions. He took part in the monumental and decorative design of the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition in Moscow (painting of the main pavilion and pavilion of the USSR, 1952-1955). His mosaic "Ukraine" was awarded a silver medal at the World's Fair in Brussels (1958). He founded and headed a mosaic workshop in Kyiv (1962). Honored Art Worker of Ukraine (1963). People's Artist of the USSR (1981). Personal exhibitions took place posthumously in Kyiv (1991, 2001). The works are stored in the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the National Taras Shevchenko Museum, the Transcarpathian Regional Art Museum, the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art and other museum and private collections.
