His love of the sport is reflected in his exquisite studies of fish. A native of New York City, Simon earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder and studied Art History at Virginia Commonwealth University. His love for fish led to stints as a professional fly-tier and as a ranger and naturalist in Yellowstone National Park. His work, chiefly watercolors, is widely collected.
