Description: This beautiful seascape painting features a small boat amongst sand dunes and clumps of sea oats. There are seagulls and sea birds flying overhead and sunlit ocean waves in the distance- it looks like the "golden hour" - the time after sunset before the sky is dark. The medium is oil on canvas with light texturing, mounted on wood, and framed. It is signed "Engle"; there are numerous artists and pieces out there signed "Engle" - I was unable to locate any information on this particular painter or the painting itself. This coastal scene is beautifully executed in earthtone shades of taupe, chocolate brown, beige, gold, ivory, and yellows. The backdrop of sky adds contrast with pale blues, white, pinks, lavender and some surprising beige brushstrokes defining the clouds. It is framed with a wide, traditional solid wood frame that is stained a medium pecan-brown and has a linen inner border. I don't know the exact age of this piece, but would estimate 1980's - 1990's, based on the condition of the painting, style of frame and color scheme. It is approximately 23.5 inches tall and 27.5 inches wide, landscape orientation. and a nice medium-large size that will look good in many spaces and with a variety of decor. The (canvas) picture itself is in good condition, with no visible stains, tears, or holes. The frame has normal vintage wear, but no significant scratches ,scuffs or gouges. The linen border has some very light discoloration, consistent with age, but is still an ivory shade (see photos). The painting is firmly mounted in the frame. The hanging bracket and wire are secure and sturdy. Please see photos and description for more detail. This painting is much more striking in person that the photographs convey. It's simply a lovely, original piece of art for any lover of the beach and ocean.
