Description: Conrad A Mecheski Jan 27, 1968 - May 3 2014 Artist Statement " My painting and drawing is a visual language, that is sometimes vague, abstract, clear, arbitrary, deep, shallow, fiction, real, emotional, conceptual or indecipherable. I tell stories. The story you see might be different from the one I am telling. I continue everyday to speak my language and develop it. I talk to the surface, usually paper. Many people have given me advice and have tried to fix me. It is difficult for a human to just be. That is what I can try to do. Just be. We don't need to give each other anything. To just be with each other is enough. There is peace in that. We don't know what will happen, we never have known. That is why I love to paint so much, because I love the mystery of not knowing the outcome of the painting. I don't know the outcome of my life. Never did, never will. It remains a mystery. It is exciting up to the end. I paint, it happens." Born in Larne, Northern Ireland, 1968. Dual citizenship from Ireland and the United States. Grew up in Vienna, Austria and went to the American International School. Studied Fine Art at the Art Institute of Boston. Spent the last 20 years making art in California and Florida. 2017-Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Springfield, IL Original Abraham Lincoln Painting on Loan for 2 months.
