Description: An interesting, original, copper-engraved, antique map of the county of Northumberland published in ‘Chorographia Britanniae’ in 1742. The map was drawn by T. Badeslade and engraved by W.H. Toms and is accompanied by information (to the left of the map) on the major towns in the county. It shows the main towns and roads and includes a distance scale and small compass rose. The sheet measures approximately 180mm x 160mm, has a centrefold as published, and is blank verso. Condition report: The overall condition is good with some age toning as is common with these maps. There is a 5cm closed tear running from the base of the centrefold and entering the printed area but without any loss. See photographs.
