Description: Handsome original 1902 antique lithographed map of western Texas, with decorative piano-key border, printed more than 120 years ago. The image area measures 15" x 10½", and the map was engraved by the Matthews-Northrup Company. The map shows post routes of the mail service to various locations not yet served by railroad, including Fort Stockton, Lubbock, Ozona, Sherwood, and Fort McKavett. Other details include railroads, cities, counties, forts, and natural features. Among the named places and features are the Southern Pacific Railroad, Fort Davis, Childress, El Paso, Barstow, Pecos River, Amarillo, the Fort Worth & Denver City Railroad, Midland, Ballinger, San Angelo, Laguna Quemada, Silverton, Dumas, Dickens, Fort Duncan, and hundreds more. There is a large inset of Galveston and Houston, and vicinity. This is an original, authentic antique map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. It was published by the Century Company of New York and is dated 1902 in the legend. This map would make an impressive display in your den or office. It would also make a perfect gift, and we'll include our helpful framing tips, along with a photocopy of the dated title page from the book in which it was published. Condition: It is in very good condition, bright and clean, with a horizontal center fold, as issued, and no marks, rips, or tears. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
