Description: This is an original page extracted from a scrapbook. Original documents have been glued to each side of the page. Both sides have letters from the "Office, A.A. Provost Marshal General, and Superintendent Volunteer Recruiting Service Southern Division of New York. The side one letter is dated Aug. 8th, 1865 and is "Special Order No. 149" as follows: III Capt. W.H. Wolcott U.S.A. having reported at this office in accordance with S.O. No. 367 Hd'q's A.A.P.M. Gen'l Northern Division U.S. Aug. 7, 1865 is hereby assigned to duty as mustering officer in this Division. By Order of Bvt. Lieut. Col. Dodge U.S.A. N. Prime Bvt. Lieut. Col. U.S.A. A.A.A.G. Side two is dated Sept. 8, 1865 and is "Special Orders No. 174 - III Captain W.H. Wolcott U.S.A. Mustering Officer will immediately proceed to Hart Island, NYH relieving Captain C.T. Greene M.D. from temporary mustering & disbursing duty. By order of Brvt. Lt. Col. Dodge U.S.A. N. Prime Bvt. Lt. Col. U.S.A. A.A.A.M? The second side also has some clippings from newspapers. One is obits. Someone wrote in ink, May 27, 1889. Under DIED:Bowen - May 28 George W. BowenCaswell - May 27 in the Ojai Valley Nordhoff, CA at the ranch of Mr. Edward S. Thatcher, Edward Thompson Caswell, second son of the late Dr. Edward T. Caswell (21 years old) Charnley - 29th Sarah, widow of Alexander Charnley 81 years old, funeral at her son's house - James A. CharnleyDickerson - In North Kingstown, Mary, wife of the late William N. Dickerson, funeral to be at the residence of Mr. Allen ReynoldsDexter - In Lime Rock on the 27th, Mariah Dexter - 83 years old.In Smithfield 6th instant - Caroline Dexter, widow of Christopher W. He was Retired on 1/7/1865 On 6/6/1861 he mustered into "Batty A" Co. R1 1st Light Artillery. He was discharged for promotion on 8/24/1861He was listed as: * Wounded 7/3/1863 Gettysburg, PA (Severely wounded in left leg, amputated) Promotions: * 1st Lieut 5/14/1861 (As of Co.
