Description: Original 1976 GERRIT GREVE Artist Signed Drip-Line Painting: Abstract Portrait Up for sale is a fantastic early work from noted artist, Gerrit Greve. Mr. Greve has dated this piece as approximately 1976. It's a drip-line abstract portrait of a woman's face. I believe the name of the paint he used is alkyd and it is on 22.5" X 28.5" paper. It's in a metal frame that Mr. Greve believes might be original. I was very excited to be able to purchase this piece and another drip-line of Gerrit Greve's at an estate auction. I knew Mr. Greve's work is quite hard to purchase outside his gallery as people seem to hang on to them, so I contacted Mr. Greve with photos of the pieces to get his thoughts of their age and value. He was very kind to respond and estimates this is from around 1976 and worth between $4000-$5000. I will be happy to include a copy of Mr. Gerrit's correspondence. If you are not familiar with Gerrit Greve's work he was born in Indonesia. His family moved to the Netherlands and then in 1957 migrated to the U.S.--Chicago area. He has mentioned that his multi-cultural upbringing influenced his art and many aspects of his work. He now lives in Cardiff-By-The-Sea in Southern California. Greve graduated from Elmhurst College with a BFA. His artwork is included in important museum, corporate and private collections both in the U.S. and abroad. Since 1972 he has had numerous gallery and museum exhibitions, including two solo museum shows. He's been the subject of several TV documentaries, including the Emmy award winning KPBS production "Artists in Residence", the PBS series "An American Skyline" and KUSI's "The Artist" series. His paintings have been featured in many publications, including TIME Magazine. He's on the board of Synergy Art Foundation and is currently administrating an art for healing program at Scripps Hospital Encinitas. Gerrit Greve's painting "Northwest Territory" is included in the book "1001 Paintings You Must See Before You Die". Actually Mr. Greve has several books with collections of his works. This painting is in excellent condition. I apologize for the reflections in the photos but it is covered with glass and I had a rough time avoiding the reflections. Again, this is an example of his wonderful work in the 1970s and it is very hard to find anything else similar. This Gerrit Greve painting is a wonderful investment. *Please note that my shipping time is up to 5 business days as I have multiple jobs and can only ship one day a week. If you happen to purchase after I return from the post office on shipping day it will be a full week wait until I am able to ship again. But most people will have a much shorter wait and some will have very fast shipping. No one will have to wait more than 5 business days. Thank you for understanding.
