Description: >Offered here is an old and original 1902 PRINCETON TIGERS vs. CORNELL BIG RED football ticket stub!! Please see both photos, as they are an important part of my description. This smallish antique football ticket (for an East Grandstand seat) measures approximately 2 5/8" x 1 1/2", with the game being played at University Field in Princeton, New Jersey on Nov. 1, 1902. This early college football game between Princeton University and Cornell University was won by Princeton by a score of 10-0. Head coach for Princeton was Garrett Cochran; head man for Cornell was Raymond Starbuck. Please see further history below for this Ivy League football game... <>History: both Cornell and Princeton fielded outstanding football teams in 1902: the Cornell Big Red finished the season at 8-3, while the Princeton Tigers an even better 8-1 which earned them a season-ending #5 national ranking. Each team featured an All-American player: guard Bill Warner for Cornell, and guard John DeWitt for Princeton. DeWitt also excelled in the sport of track and field, as a hammer thrower who won the silver medal at the 1904 Olympic Games. <>Condition: this rare football ticket stub shows evidence on the reverse that it was once housed in a scrapbook...which helps explain the very high quality of the ticket overall!
