It was named in honour of the hero-city Kerch. The hull was laid down on the slipway of the 61st Kommunar Shipyard in Nikolaev on April 30, 1971. Launched on July 21, 1972. On December 25, 1974, it was included in the 70th brigade of anti-submarine ships of the 30th division of anti-submarine ships of the Black Sea Navy. In 1976 it went on its first combat service in the Mediterranean Sea. It was repeatedly repaired and modified. On November 4, 2014, the LASS Kerch suffered a fire that damaged a number of stern compartments. In 2015 it was withdrawn from the Navy and was decommissioned.
