One Large Exotic Black & Red Lava Rock – for Aquariums ,Terrariums, Succulents

As you can see, this exotic black & red rock is roughly 8½" across its base and about 6½" tall. Spokesmodel Woody says that in the right setting, it would make an impressive lava tower. You'll find lots of cracks and crevices across its surface, along with a few holes and pockmarks in a variety of shapes and sizes. Also known as "scoria" or "cinder", it was hand-picked directly from the Springerville Volcanic Field, near the White Mountains of east-central Arizona. Those pockmarks are one of the most recognizable features of scoria. When these rocks were expelled from the volcanoes that were active here between 300,000-1.5 million years ago, hot gases were captured within the molten rock. As it cooled, the gas was trapped, leaving thousands of tiny "pores" within the rock itself. The red color resulted from its iron oxidizing during eruption.
