Volume One: 516 pages, author's portrait is the frontispiece with tissue insert, 23 other illustrations including b&w drawings and maps; covers are clean with some extremity wear including spine head, interior is very clean, pencil markings on front paste down end paper, slight pull-away at front of book otherwise binding is solid. Volume Two: 621 pages, index, three appendices, frontispiece and fold out map measuring 15" x 19" opposite, covers have some wear, extremity wear including tears and chipping to the spine head, very clean interior. A nice set full of information on the subject matter, well illustrated throughout each volume, well written by the noted author/historian of the era.
