Description: There is many replicas from synthetic materials made to look like cinnabar listed. This is real cinnabar. The lidded box has a very old piece of Ching porcelain inlaid. Chards of porcelain left from natural disasters and Boxing Day War were used in the late 19th century to mid 20th century as inlays in boxes. Two hundred plus layers and carved. The cinnabar lacquer takes one day for each layer to dry and then it carved only by the fine artisans. The cinnabar was put into the warehouse in 1991 and has not been touch. Was an much older item when shipped mid 1980s.The cinnabar box measures 4-1/4" in diameter and l-1/4" high.The pictures are your description so look closely. The box is a deeper red than pictures.To the best of my ability, the pictures clearly reveal the item and the condition is stated in auction. The natural patina of age cannot be avoided.
