Description: Old French Santons Figurines,Christmas Nativity Set, Devineau, 14 pcs This lovely fourteen piece ensemble is composed of authentic old French “santons”, or Nativity figurines. The set includes the Holy Family, the Wise Men, an angel, four shepherds (the piping shepherd, the young shepherd, the kneeling old shepherd, the shepherd with a lamb on his shoulders), an ox, a donkey and a sheep. The ox and the donkey are flocked, the Baby Jesus is wax and the other pieces are chalkware. All figures were made by Devineau, famous santon maker in Nantes, France, during the first half of the 20th century. These santons are in good condition with the exception of signs of age and wear on the surface, including a missing ear on the donkey and a few small chips. They will add a charming atmosphere of Christmas in France to your home or be excellent additions to your collection.
