Description: I have for sale a medal commemorating Old Fort Niagara. The medal is bronze, it is 1 1/4 inch in diameter and in circulated condition, see photos. This medal was made by the Whitehead & Hoag company. Old Fort Niagara is located on the Niagara River at its mouth on Lake Ontario. The obverse at the top reads THE CASTLE, in the center it shows the fort and below it reads OLD FORT NIAGARA. The reverse reads BUILT BY THE - FRENCH IN 1726 - TAKEN BY THE - BRITISH IN 1759 - OCCUPIED BY THE UNITED - STATES IN 1795, RETAKEN - BY THE BRITISH IN 1813 - COMING FINALLY UNDER - THE UNITED STATES FLAG IN - 1815.
