Rowland Eyles Egerton-Warburton (14 September 1804 – 6 December 1891) was an English landowner and poet from the Egerton family in Cheshire. Egerton-Warburton's main hobby was hunting. He was a keen member, and later the president, of the nearby Tarporley Hunt Club. He also wrote poetry, the subject matter of which reflected his interests in hunting and in the countryside. Some of his rhymes are to be found on signposts in the grounds of the hall. Edward Davis Townsend (August 22, 1817 – May 10, 1893) was Adjutant General of the United States Army from 1869 to 1880. Condition: Sound binding. Wear to top and bottom of spine and board tips. Spine cloth sunned. Staining to boards. Armorial bookplate of the Townshend family on front pastedown. Edward D. Townshend signed it as pictured above. He also glued in clippings of more songs, and also handwrote in some on endpapers. Main body of text itself is clean and tight. The appendix in the back with 4 new songs has foxing and toning. 7" x 4 1/4" with 254 pages.
