Ohio Bicentennial Barn Painter Scott Hagan CAT'S MEOW Shelf Sitter : Signed

Description: Up for sale is a displayed-condition Cat's Meow Village shelf sitter of the Ohio Bicentennial Barn Painter Scott Hagan CAT'S MEOW : signed by Hagan & Faline. Hagan got his professional start painting Ohio State's Block O, complete with Brutus Buckeye, on the side of his father's barn when he was 19 years old. To celebrate and commemorate Ohio's 200th anniversary as a state, the Ohio Bicentennial Commission selected artist Scott Hagan to paint at least one barn in each of Ohio's eighty-eight counties with the bicentennial logotype. The project began in 1997 and was completed in September 2002. His story is printed at length on the back of the piece. The shelf sitter building measures approximately 6 inches by 5 inches and is in excellent pre-owned condition. This shelf sitter is made from a solid block of composite wood. A small black cat is located perched on the right side of the front “banner”; his name is Casper and his image is found on every Cat's Meow shelf sitter. There is the standard signature on the reverse of the block, Faline '03. I believe this is printed and NOT hand signed by the artist, Faline Jones. However, both the signatures of Hagan and Faline are definitely written on the piece. Both signatures are extremely faint and can only be made out if you tip the piece to allow the light to strike it to make the signatures see-able. Near the center bottom of the piece on its reverse side is the logo of the Ohio bicentennial. To the left of the logo one can barely make out "Faline 3-5-03"; to the right of the logo one can barely make out the flourished signature "Scott Hagan". May guess was that both attended a special celebration in Ohio on March 5, 2003. This was nearly 20 years ago and the ink used was a blue ink that matched the background and now has faded.
