Description: Ohio Art Technofix Tin Litho Switch & Dump Wind Up Train Set GE 297 Works For consideration is this vintage wind up train set called Switch & Dump with an engine and a loader on switch tracks. This was made by Technofix in Western Germany and imported by Ohio Art Company in the USA. The set features nice details and the train winds nicely and tows the loader. The colors are vibrant and I found only one dent (near the hinged area – see photos). The track measures 28 inches long fully extended by 4¼ inches wide, the engine measures 4 inches long, 1½ inches wide, 1¾ inches tall, and the loader measures 3 inches long, 1 3/8 inches wide and ¾ inch tall. He named it the Ohio Art Company because of his profound interest in art and its location. The Ohio Art Company is an American toy and metal lithography company with a history that spans over a century: In 1912, the company moved to Bryan, Ohio and expanded its lithography business. They are still in business today. NOTE: Technofix made tin toys, comic and erratic action lithographed tin wind-ups. Prior to 1930s, their toys can be identified by the initials GE or GEN. The company was founded by the Einfalt brothers Georg and Johann in Nuremberg, Germany and existed from 1922 to 1978. Prior to the 1930s, their toys can be identified by the initials "G.E" or "G.E.N.". Later, the toys are identifiable by the trademark "Marke Technofix" inside a triangle. The Einfalt Bros. continued to produce tin toys in the west under the name of 'Technofix' and many of their toys were marked 'Made in the U.S. Zone Germany'. The tin toys produced in this period reflected the technical and scientific advances. In 1978, after 56 years of activity, the Technofix toy factory had to close.
