ABOUT Michele De Lucchi: He is an Italian designer and architect. In 1975 he graduated in Architecture at the University of Florence, where from 1975 to 1977 he worked as an assistant to Adolfo Natalini, founder of Superstudio. Between the end of the 70s and the 80s he was a prominent figure in Architettura Radicale and played a part in the most important movements in Italian design of the time. His important track record with Centrokappa and Alchimia in those years is also worthy of mention. He was one of the co-founders of Memphis with which he collaborated from 1981 to 1987. In 1987 he designed the Tolomeo lamp for Artemide, which earned him the Compasso d'Oro two years later. Working for Olivetti, De Lucchi acquired enormous experience in the world of the office, creating a vast range of furniture, computers and furnishings such as the highly modular Icarus Series (for Olivetti Synthesis in 1982, with Ettore Sottsass). De Lucchi's projects are created in collaboration with numerous Italian and European furniture brands. In 1990 he founded Produzione Privata with the aim of combining an experimental approach with traditional artisanal techniques and processes. He has curated numerous art and design exhibitions and had designed museum buildings such as the Milan Triennale, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome and the Neues Museum in Berlin. He has carried out various projects for the city of Milan including the pavilions for Expo 2015, the UniCredit Pavilion in Piazza Gae Aulenti and the installation of the Pieta Rondanini in the Castello Sforzesco. He is a professor with the Faculty of Design of the Milan Polytechnic and a member of the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca in Rome. About MEMPHIS Milano: The Memphis Milano or the Memphis Group design movement, born in 1981 under the vision of Ettore Sottsass and a collective of young designers and architects (Nathalie Du Pasquier included), became a defining cultural phenomenon of the 1980s. By challenging the established norms of design and turning conventional ideas about living spaces on their head, Memphis revolutionized creative and commercial logics. Sottsass, the backbone of the movement, led the charge in reimagining design through unconventional shapes, bold patterns, and innovative materials, pushing the creative boundaries of the industry. Memphis became a symbol of New Design, and its influence continues to resonate across various sectors of production and beyond, leaving a lasting mark on contemporary culture. Each Memphis Milano piece is timeless and iconic, continuing to captivate audiences for its rebellious, avant-garde nature and its impact on contemporary design sensibilities. These objects remain collectible and influential, symbolizing a pivotal moment in the history of design. Photos & Text (C) All rights reserved Hello There! Store Thank you for shopping small,💛
