When building a Stratocaster that combines single coils and humbuckers the resistance of the volume control is a headache. Should you make it 500kΩ for the humbucker or keep it at 250kΩ for the single coil CUSTOM HSS / HSH FOR STRAT GEN2 Standard can switch between these depending on the switch position. In the humbucker position it is 500kΩ and in the single coil position it is 250kΩ so you can always control the volume ideally. The three knobs are configured as master volume neck middle tone control and bridge tone control. In addition in the half tone position including the humbucker of the 5-way switch the humbucker becomes a split coil (coil tap) and is mixed with the middle. This allows you to create the traditional half tone of the Stratocaster. To use this function the humbucker pickup must be a 4-conductor cable. Compatible Models ObsidianWire CUSTOM HSS / HSH FOR STRAT GEN2 Standard is designed to fit directly into right-handed Fender HSS or HSH Stratocasters made in the United States and Mexico. The humbucker is compatible with 4-conductor cable types. Since it uses inch-sized pots for Japanese models the pickguard hole must be widened to 3/8 inch (10 mm) and a knob for inch size is required.
