Description: HAVE YOU ALWAYS WANTED TO BUY AN OBERHEIM WITH PEACE OF MIND? WELL, THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO MAKE THAT A REALITY!!! π This MUSICIAN'S DREAM-GEAR is FULLY FUNCTIONAL, and I would say it is in MINT condition, especially for its age! However, and respectfully, since everyone has different standards, please don't take my word for it; I'll let the pictures do the talking. π I am sure that if you are looking at this item, you know everything about it. So, I will first tell you about this particular gem: IT HAS JUST BEEN FULLY SERVICED! The following services were done, which cost me over $400! IF you find another one for less than what mine is selling for, you would then need to find someone who would work on these (which is very rare nowadays), and then who knows how much it would cost to make it fully functional??! These synths are over 40 years old, which means unless they had just been serviced, hardly any of them would be fully functional; and condition is everything. SERVICES DONE:Full inspectionKey-bed servicedAll sliders/knobs servicedAll switches servicedAll contacts cleanedCleaned inside and outWould you like to own a part of Music/American history? Have you been searching for a very rare classic/vintage synthesizer that is also a great Conversation/DΓ©cor piece, that would ROCK your house? Well; here it is! One of the MOST BEAUTIFUL, PHATTEST and arguably the BEST synthesizers ever built... Any angle you look at it, it is gorgeous; and BOLD! This synth is one of the most amazing synths of all time! With its rich/creamy analog sounds, it is a timeless gear, and will forever be relevant, and usable in all electronic music productions. It is truly breathtaking... And for those reasons, it will forever remain a favorite. This wonder is adored by all collectors, and will ONLY go up in value! From Wikipedia: Notable users of the OB-1 were the composer and musician Vince Clarke and the bands Tangerine Dream, Rush, and The Grid.[1] A 2014 feature on the French radio station France Inter claimed that the OB-1 had been used by the Star Wars sound engineer Ben Burtt to create the voice of R2-D2 and that the name of another Star Wars character, Obi-Wan Kenobi, derives from a transliteration of "OB-1"The Oberheim OB-1 was a monophonic, programmable, analog synthesizer introduced by Oberheim Electronics in 1978. It originally sold for $1,895 (in today's money, over $10,000,00!) and was the first analog synthesizer capable of storing patches. The design was a replacement for the previous generation of Oberheim SEM (Synthesizer Expansion Module) based instruments and intended to be used for live performance.[1][2] READ ALL ABOUT THIS DEVICE BELOW! (under "some specs from the web") THIS WOULD MAKE AN AMAZING GIFT FOR ALL OCCASIONS, INCLUDING CHRISTMAS, BIRTHDAY, ANNIVERSARY... π Please feel free to ask me any questions; I will try my best to find the answers for you. Also, let me know if you need any more pictures.Thank you, KevinP.s. When you're buying a vintage (or just a used) car, does the condition matter? Of course it does! π That is why when it comes to buying a used car, price is not everything... And buying a second hand synthesizer, is no different than purchasing a vintage or used car. Yes, I'm proud of my children for sure. Mainly because when it comes to used keyboards and synths (just like used cars), condition is EVERYTHING! I have searched hard, hand-picked and collected only the best of the best that are in pristine condition (majority of them); and then, had them professionally inspected, serviced/repaired (if needed), reprogrammed/restored (if needed), detailed... There's definitely value in that. On average, I spend about two hours on every single keyboard, before offering it for sale, and if they're not serviced, or if they don't pass the inspection, I don't sell them! I believe in selling ONLY quality items, to ensure that my clients are very happy with their purchase, which produces repeats, referrals and customers for life! π With all other used gear from other sources, including the major retailers, you'd have to keep your fingers crossed until it arrives... And most often, they are not what they were described to be, and often enough turn into headaches or heartaches...but you can rest assured that, if you buy from me, you will get a fully functional gear, and you'll get to see tons of detailed pictures, before making up your mind! πNo retailer would service them prior to the sale, as it costs an additional $250-$300! And that is what I do, as a labor of love! I do this because I really enjoy ANYTHING and EVERYTHING about synthesizers! Buying, selling, fixing, collecting, playing...I just love them! π A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I am a 46-year-old, with a degree in electronic engineering, who LOVES Synthesizers, Music, and Electronics in general. Even though I do not work in the electronic field; I have always loved it, never separated; and as a hobby, I collect and fix them (if broken); and sometimes sell them to make room for others... And, to make sure the next owner would not have any issues, I test them, open them(if necessary), and serviced them. SOME SPECS FROM THE WEB:(The following information is from the web, and not my words, so I cannot guarantee the accuracy of the statements, but believe them to be accurate, to the best of my limited knowledge on this instrument) From Gear Space.com:The Oberheim OB-1 is on my opinion one of the best looking and best sounding synths ever made. But it is very rare and no many people did have the possibility of having or even playing one. So it remains practically unknown, unmentioned, almost forgotten in every discussion about analog synths. That said, my intention with this video was to take a look into this classic designed and classic sounding synth. If you can get over my English (I have to choose between speaking veeeery sloooooowly or speaking at normal speed with lots of mistakes, and... I went for time saving), you may find an useful explanation of how the OB-1 works and, more important, how it sounds.I hope you enjoy it. (I included his video above) From SYNTH.MARKET:This small analog monophonic synthesizer strongly influenced the sound of pop music of the 1980s. The main feature that explains the popularity of OB-1 - the ability to save settings in one of eight presets. All functional blocks are built on discrete elements (late representatives of the OB series used specialized CEM chips). The synthesizer has two voltage controlled oscillators (VCO), each of which has an independent frequency controller, a micro-tuning, an octave switch. There are triangular and rectangular waveforms available that can be transformed by built-in converters into saw, reverse saw, meander with different duty cycles and intermediate forms. For modulation, an LFO is provided that produces a sine or square wave. The modulation signal can be sent to the cutoff frequency of VCF or modulate (FM and PW) VCO.The voltage controlled low-pass filter (LP VCF) has cutoff, resonance and modulation depth adjustment. There is a selection of the number of VCF stages, which allows you to obtain a slope of 12 or 24 dB per octave. A keyboard tracking mode is also provided (higher notes have a higher cutoff frequency).OB-1 has two built-in ADSR envelope generators. One of them is dedicated to VCF, the second - to VCA.The synthesizer got a non-dynamic keyboard with 37 keys. The "transpose" switch allows you to change the pitch within three octaves.Pitch bend control has an original implementation - it is carried out with a lever.OB-1 was used by Supertramp, Electronic Dream Planet, Tangerine Dream, Sky, Herbie Hancock, Rush.
