Situated high in the mountains three hours from Oaxaca City, this is one of the most idyllic settings that one may ever find! Perched at the top of the mountains, with sweeping views of the surrounding canyons and distant pueblos, San Pedro Cajonos kisses the clouds and shines in its art forms. One of the most famous of San Pedro Cajonos artists, is the Blas Family of wood carvers. Their style is so unique and can be identified readily upon sight. Bright colors, and fine painting are their hallmarks. I absolutely love the Blas Family wood carvings! Hilario's owl wood carvings are so unique and fun! Full of whimsy, and both bright and deep colors in the painting. For such an economical piece, these owls are packed with a difficult to achieve sense of motion, with the pointed outstretched wings, the downturned position of the head, the big alert eyes and the planted feet protruding from the base of the carving! I love these. Nicely painted and a great size, it will make an affordable addition to your collection. The piece is signed by the artist, and wings are removable for safe shipping.
