Nymphaea Pubescens White 15 Seeds, Hairy Water Garden Lily For Aquarium Ponds

Description: Nymphaea Pubescens Also known as: White Hairy Water LilyThis aquatic plant is common in shallow lakes and ponds throughout temperate and tropical Asia, to northeastern Australia, Papua New Guinea and India. The white flowers are quite large, about 15 cm in diameter when fully open. They tend to close during the daytime and open wide at night. Its leaf blades are round above the water and heart-shaped below. Some of the leaves that emerge rise slightly above the water held by their stem in lotus fashion, but most of them just float on the surface. The leaves of this plant have fuzzy or hairy undersides and the stems are covered by the same hairs as well, hence the name "pubescens" or "hairy" of the species. This is not a characteristic that is apparent when looking at the plant from above the water though. Highly commercialized as an aquarium plant. The underwater leaves of this species have a handsome appearance that is appreciated by aquarists who often remove the floating leaves to keep it as a fully subaquatic plant. It prefers non-acidic waters and it does not tolerate temperatures below 15 °C.Please note the difference: The lotus is often confused with the water lilies (Nymphaea, sometimes called the "lotus"). In fact, several older systems call the lotus Nymphaea nelumbo or Nymphaea stellata. This is, however, evolutionarily incorrect, as the lotus and water-lilies are practically unrelated. Far from being in the same family, Nymphaea and Nelumbo are members of different orders (Nymphaeales and Proteales respectively).Lotus form waxy green bowl like foliage (to 2’ across) that generally rise above the water, as with the flowers are born on stalks (peduncles) above the water. Lotus (Nelumbo) produce large marble sized seeds and have been found to remain viable for several centuries! Lilies (Nymphaea) on the other hand, its foliage tend to 'float' on the water surface and the leaves generally are flat. The seeds of Nymphaea are very small. This offer is for 15 seeds! We also offer this species in packs of 500 and 2000 seeds in our store! For complete transparency we include payment processing & Ebay fees in our shipping/handling cost.*DISCLAIMER*NO RETURNS/REFUNDS/REPLACEMENTS ON SEEDSMost specialty seeds we offer are NOT fast to germinate. Many take several weeks, months, and some even up towards a year depending on dormancy, region, season etc. It is important that the buyer understands that seeds are perishable products and seed germination can be adversely affected by such factors as mold/fungus, bugs, temperature, moisture content, light intensity, dormancy, care, contamination of planting media among many other reasons. These factors are totally out of The Plant Attraction's control and are the buyer's responsibility and risk. Germination recommendations are sent with each order and the buyer is free to research and use their own methods. Floating seeds do not always indicate that the seed is not viable. Many times it is a misconception because the seed does not have the density to sink in water. Accordingly, The Plant Attraction does not guarantee seeds to perform properly regardless of conditions or buyer's methods or mistakes. Since 2006 we have been doing our best to hand sort and provide the freshest, cleanest harvest that is free of defects and bugs.
