Description: This listing is for one (1) solid state Powerbox unit to replace the rectifier and zener diode found on positive ground 12-volt British manufactured motorcycles. Lucas rectifiers are generally found near the battery area of your bike, they are a finned mechanism with a grounded center stud and 4 individual wires coming from each plate. Over time they are prone to malfunction usually from vibration and/or corrosion. These old rectifiers tend to ground out and fry. The zener diode is grounded on an aluminum part of your bike, i.e., a finned heat sink, air cleaner housing or a footrest bracket. Zener diodes are designed to only transfer extra voltage into heat thus this entire charging system along with a single fuse is prone to .... melt. Adding a solid-state unit is a safer alternative to avoiding fried wires. This little gem will wire into your existing stock wiring harness. Mounting points are built into the unit. This unit is only compatible with stock 12-volt single phase positive (+) ground or negative ground (-) charging systems. It is not for use with high output 3 Phase charging systems. We have those listed as well. Included are complete installation instructions for either 12-volt positive (+) ground or 12-volt negative (-) ground systems. Most Brit bikes are positive (+) ground. For 12 Volt positive (+) ground systems: the black wire attaches to (-) battery or the switch, the yellow wires attach to your alternator, red wire to (+) ground. Supply is limited. The mounting holes are 2" apart, unit is roughly 2.75" x 2.25" with a height of 7/8". We also list solid state rectifiers which will replace OEM rectifiers, they do not replace the zener diode.
