Description: Gorgeous sets (4) flat cups and saucers by early Noritake (Morimura Brothers). This 175 pattern, also known as "White and Gold" and "Christmas Ball" , was in production since 1906 and is considered to be the longest running and most popular pattern of Noritake china. It features 24 kt gold encrusted scrolls and a "Christmas ornament shape" design on a creamy white porcelain background. It also features gilded bead work (moriage) within the design and along the rims of the cups and saucers. Noritake had many different styles in this 175 pattern, these cups and saucers being style #2.It's no wonder that this 175 pattern was one of the most popular and longest running, It is STUNNING! The the cups are approximately 2" tall and 3 1/2" in diameter across rim, the saucers are 5 3/8" in diameter. All cups bear the green wreath with M backstamp with the patent # 16034 (or 43061) Made in Japan, dating it to the 1921-1941 period.
