This auction is for the 1972 President Nixon China trip Detroit News press ID for Jerry terHorst! Jerry terHorst was born in Grand Rapids and first met Jerry Ford in 1948 while covering Ford's first Congressional race. Naturally, over the years, both being from Michigan, the two became close friends and terHorst became President Ford's White House Press Secretary the day that President Nixon resigned (August 9, 1974) and Vice President Ford was sworn in as President of the United States. terHorst lasted just one month in the job as he resigned on September 8,1974 in objection to President Ford granting RN his pardon. Oh, in addition to all of that, I should add that Jerry terHorst was riding in President John F. Kennedy's Dallas motorcade on the morning of November 22, 1963 -- when President Kennedy was assassinated. Laminated 5" x 3 1/4" in excellent condition.I'm thinking this piece should be on display at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library & Museum in Ann Arbor. What a display that would make!FAST FREE BOXED PRIORITY SHIPPING!
