This book accompanied an exhibition organized in the Antibes museum in 2005, but was designed as a work in its own right. When Nicolas de Staël arrived in Antibes in the fall of 1954, he was just 40 years old. The catalog includes a number of essays/reviews/critiques. 147 paintings and numerous works on paper were created in less than five months, in Antibes, before his death a stone's throw from the museum, which dedicated this tribute to him. The correspondence of Nicolas de Staël from the summer of 1954, a biography and a selective bibliography complete the work.
