nice Millers Falls No 1455 low angle block plane wood front knob similar to 61

Description: You are bidding on one Millers Falls Number 1455 low angle wood block plane as pictured.It is marked "MILLERS FALLS No 1455" on the left side rail, "MADE IN USA" just in front of the frog, and the iron is marked "SOLID TOOL STEEL MILLERS FALLS MADE IN USA" in their usual logo.Overall length of the body is about 5-15/16". The iron is about 1-3/8" in width (NOT 1-5/8"), and a bit over 4-1/8" in overall length. With the wood front knob, this is very similar to the Stanley Number 61 low angle block plane.Condition is generally very good, and the iron has seen some flattening and is rather sharp. The left side rail has an area of light pitting above "1455", and the sole appears to have seen some flattening with some scratches near the back end of the sole. Most of the japanning is intact on the body and on the cap, except that there is an area up inside the palm rest on the cap that didn't get any japanning. The wood knob has some scratches and dings. There are no cracks in the corners of the throat. The iron has some bits of patina (color), and again has seen some flattening and sharpening.There are no cracks or chips or chunks missing from any of the castings, and everything operates properly. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location.
