Description: I think this is an original finish radio but not sure if that top bezel area may have been spotted in. It may be all original but not sure. The dial has some crazing in the black paint as you can see. In any event, the radio will power up and there's plenty of audio, only problem is it's not receiving stations due to what I think is an open grid circuit in the IF or maybe before. When the radio is turned on and warms up, as you increase the volume you get a loud open circuit type hum, NOT an AC power hum from bad filter caps (one has been replaced at some point). It has only a trace of hum at no volume level and increases only when the volume is turned up. One of the Loctal sockets has been replaced and you can see some of that nasty old rubber wire insultation has come off in that area. Also noted, a few caps have been replaced. I don't think this radio is far from being operational, but I just don't have the time to fool with it with A LOT of stuff to list on ebay. As a warning, this radio has the aforementioned old flaky plastic coated wires so extra caution is required when working on it. It's also a pain to get into, having to remove the front dial bezel, push button assemblies, etc. It's not just pop the chassis out and go to work about a minute later! One other detail: The on/off/vol knob on the right, was broken inside so it couldn't hold onto the control shaft. The last pic shows a fix I did with a much smaller knob (for the smaller shaft size) epoxied in there so it can now be tightened with an Allen wrench, as you can see in the pic (wrench not included). The knob still doesn't look the greatest but it works now. At least it's a great display radio if nothing else; no refinishing/wood repair necessary. It's big, about 20X10X11 inches and heavy so shipping will be a killer!
