This is a very nice medium large palm size formation of pinkish banded agate chalcedony stone of the type found in the deserts of Arizona. There is an interesting orbicular formation seen in the crevice of this specimen. Arizona was once a mostly volcanic area although the volcano are extinct now these types of quartz can sometimes be found eroding from volcanic ash deposits and formed in pockets of the ash stone at depth for millions of years. In the distant past the Arizona volcanic mountains were much higher for the quartz to be able to form at enough depth and then in recent times exposed to the surface after much of the mountain has been eroded away. This stone is good for collection, study, display, or other purpose.
