His pottery is in museums around the world. The late president Reagan had a Robert Tenorio pottery bowl. This was newly made and purchased direct from Robert at his home in Santo Domingo Pueblo. He recently was featured on the History channel as one of the greatest Santo Domingo American Indian potters. Born on December 29, 1950, the son of Andrew and Juanita Tenorio, on the Santo Domingo Pueblo, Robert remembers watching his paternal grandmother, Andrea Ortiz, make dough bowls, water jars, and other pottery. Robert enrolled at the American Indian Institute of Arts when he was younger. Robert uses native clays and the traditional firing methods of his ancestors, making polychrome jars, pots, and canteens with the geometric designs and animals characteristic of centuries-old Santo Domingo pots. He has been potting full time since 1970. He also teaches pottery making to the younger Kewa Tribe members in Santo Domngo Pueblo. Sometimes Robert signs his name, other times he uses the centuries old dot designs to mark his pottery. You will receive the actual item pictured.
