Product Description: This offering is for a single Dura-Ace 8-speed cassette spacer that measures 3.0 mm thick. For years, I have emphasized this spacer should only be considered as a replacement part for Shimano 8-speed cassettes. The primary reason for this recommendation is due to Shimano cassette spec. sheets that indicate 7-speed spacers measure 3.1 mm thick, while 8-speed spacers are ever so slightly thinner (as mentioned above). Having said this, I recently decided to build a Dura-Ace 7-speed UniGlide cassette with these slightly thinner 8-speed spacers and I could not tell a difference between these spacers and the slightly thicker 7-speed spacers in terms of the overall cassette footprint on the hub body. Another observation is the complete Dura-Ace 8-speed UniGlide cassettes we sell include a first position threaded sprocket and second position splined sprocket that have built-in spacers. The fact that these first two sprockets have spacers is a nice feature, but this is not the noteworthy point I want to make here. The more important point is the stamped labeling on these first two sprockets, which indicates they are 7/8 speed compatible...meaning the built-in spacers are compatible with both 7-speed and 8-speed cassettes. In other words, if the built-in spacers on my Dura-Ace 8-speed UniGlide cassettes are 7/8 speed compatible, then it would stand to reason that loose spacers used on this same cassette should be 7/8 speed compatible. So while I acknowledge the Shimano spec. sheets indicate there is a slight difference in spacer width between their 7-speed and 8-speed cassettes, I have come to what I believe to be a fairly reasonable conclusion that the 0.1 mm spacer difference (per spacer) or roughly 0.5 mm spacing difference for an entire cluster (when using Shimano 8-speed spacers to build-up a 7-speed cassette) is not enough of a difference to cause drivetrain problems. Of course, if I am mistaken, and someone relies on this listing discussion when buying these spacers for a 7-speed cassette, and has problems with drivetrain shifting (and believes their problems relate to the small spacer difference highlighted in this listing), then you are welcome to return the spacers for a refund. Additionally, you should be able to use these spacers on equivalent 7/8 speed HyperGlide cassettes, because HyperGlide sprockets are the same width as UniGlide sprockets. As for condition, these spacers are new and unused...and machined from a light alloy (so a good quality spacer that is probably superior to other spacers we have available). Note to international customers regarding shipping... We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case. Note to international customers regarding customs... We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
