Product Description: Listing Update...We wanted to clarify a few thoughts on these saddle covers. The look and feel of this saddle cover resembles the traditional suede cover we have noted on other saddles where we know the cover is genuine suede. I can also confirm the cover on these nicer Mundialita saddles is different relative to our less expensive Mundialita saddles where the cover material is clearly a faux suede. With these nicer saddles, the suede determination is not so easy, as the cover really does have the look and feel of a traditional suede, but I cannot say for sure, so there is a chance this saddle cover is made from a thicker synthetic material to resemble a genuine suede (and please keep this in mind when considering this offering). Original Listing... This offering is for a new-old-stock Mundialita saddle in what we believe is a navy blue suede cover (although, please refer to the "Listing Update" above for further discussion on this topic). It is a true "old stock" saddle made in Italy and we were fortunate to find them "collecting dust" over in Europe. We have a couple of different models in the Mundialita saddles, and this offering is for the nicer of the two models. The best way for us to describe the design of these saddles is to compare them to the more popular Selle Italia Turbo saddles from the late 80's and early 90's. They are not an exact match, but the design is similar (as is hopefully evident from the pictures). Some additional specs/details include the following... Dimensions (Length x Width): 270 mm x 146 mm (with the latter measured from the widest point...near the back of the saddle) Weight: 440 grams (per our digital postal scale) Rail material: chromoly steel Rail width: 43 mm (see discussion that follows regarding rail width) Production date: Not available (refer to discussion above) Production locale: Made in Italy We've also noted this saddle includes some high-density foam padding that falls somewhere in between typical racing saddles and more comfortable touring saddles. The relatively heavy saddle weight may give some indication there is a respectable amount of padding wrapped under the saddle cover (although, the steel rails also contribute to the relatively high weight). Another observation is the saddle shell appears to be made from a molded (and fairly thick/heavy) hard plastic and the cover is glued to the underside of this shell with staples reinforcing selected areas. The latter is based on comments from our supplier, which are consistent with a visible inspection of the less expensive Mundialita saddles...where the staples are visible on the underside of the saddle shell. This results in a snug/tight cover fit that shows no signs of failure (meaning the adhesive still appears to be in good shape and the staples still appear firmly anchored to the shell). We also believe the underside of these saddles is finished better than our other Mundialita saddles...with more attention to detail and the effective use of additional molded plastic components. The end result is an overall cleaner look. In terms of condition, these saddles shows little shop wear. There are typically some small rub marks, scuffs and other minor imperfections in the cover, but no visible cuts/scuffs that puncture through the cover. I can also confirm the rails are relatively clean. Finally, I should also mention the white labeling near the nose of the saddle is susceptible to flaking off (so I would not expect it to last very long). Listing Update...I have begun updating the pictures to reflect the next one of these saddles to sell/ship. To this end, the above cosmetic description holds up as accurate for this particular saddle. One final comment...I am nearly sold out of these saddles in the navy blue cover (with only a few left in stock. A note about rail width... We have always assumed saddle rail widths were relatively standard...44 mm for a standard road/mtb saddle and 30 mm for a track saddle (center-to-center measurements). However, we are beginning to understand there is some variability concerning saddle rail widths that we would have expected to measure 44 mm. The variations are not significant...maybe +/- 3 mm from the 44 mm expected width...and we realize there is some flex to saddle rails...but the variations may still make installation a chore at times. For this reason, we are now providing a center-to-center rail width measurement on our saddles. Note to international customers regarding shipping... We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case. Note to international customers regarding customs... We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
