Description: This is a really cool, high quality hanging wall mount showcasing a nice piece of authentic Mackinac Bridge original steel road deck grating, from the original installation in 1957. What a great way to own your own original and unique piece of the iconic Mackinac Bridge, a piece that You may very well have driven over on your way to or from Michigan's Upper Peninsula!This steel Bridge piece is nicely cut, with polished edges, and dipped in warm satin polyurethane to bring out the classic green Bridge paint color. The wear and tear endured by this piece of steel high above the Straits of Mackinac for over 60 years really shows in its character.This piece features a crisp, beautiful laser etching of an image of the Bridge, along with "Mackinac Bridge" and "Original Road Deck Steel" cleanly and crisply etched, lending instant visual authentication to the piece. The piece is securely mounted (no visible fasteners) to a hand stained and glossed poplar plank, with clean, square edges. A robust sawtooth hangar ensures secure, level mounting, and cork & rubber standoffs have been applied to ensure no marring of the wall.This would be a great gift, or a unique momento of your trip, vacation, etc to the UP! Decades ago, this steel grating was originally painted with lead-based paint. Much of the original lead-based paint is gone, but the Buyer needs to agree with the following “Hold Harmless Agreement” related to the lead paint. LEAD PAINT DISCLOSURE (HOLD HARMELSS AGREEMENT):The used steel grating traffic deck sections removed from the Mackinac Bridge have been painted with lead-based paint. This coating existed on the grating at the time of removal from the Bridge and at the time of the original sale of the used grating. The remaining components of the existing paint on the grating is unknown.I understand that the used grating is painted with lead-based paint and that lead based paint is a hazardous material. I understand that wastes that are hazardous must be properly stored, treated, and disposed of in accordance with the Federal Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. I understand the remaining components of the existing paint are not known. I understand the seller is not assuming any obligation regarding the grating condition, and seller disclaims any and all liability arising from the use, resale, or disposal of the grating section once in my ownership.As consideration for the purchase of the used piece of grating from the Mackinac Bridge, the buyer accepts and assumes 100% of the risk involved in owning, using, reselling and disposing of the grate piece, and therefore acquits, relieves, exempts and releases the seller from any and all claims for injury, illness, accident or damages sustained by the use or disposal of the grating piece.The buyer indemnifies and holds harmless the seller for any liability for damages or for injury or illness brought by any negligence of the buyer in connection with the use, resale, or disposal of the grate piece.
