New Flock of Sheep, felted applique PDF (download) pattern by Debora Konchinsky

Description: This is a downloadable pattern (good for people in foreign countries who don't want to wait for the mailman to deliver). You will need a working printer to use this pattern. Please remember to leave me your email address in ebay messages after you pay with Paypal. It is only okay to leave an email address because you have already paid for the downloadable pattern. If I have to remind you to send your email it will delay your receipt of the pattern. On the other hand, I will only wait FIVE days for you to send me your email address to Ebay messages. If I do not receive it , those of you in the US will get a printed pattern which delays you receivng it, or a refund (for international orders). I can´t message you to remind you. This is my favorite felted applique pattern. It measures 31" high x 37" wide. There are 13 different sheep drawings that you cut out of wool fabric with fusible on the wrong side. Since I made this pattern, I realized that the fusible really isn't necessary because the act of poking the wool applique to the background is enough to keep the applique from moving. These appliques then get ironed onto wool backgrounds and poked with the felting tool and wool fibers to make the sheep look more real than just regular applique. The fibers get hooked together magically because wool has barbs on each fiber and they mesh together. There are so many different textures and colors for natural sheep. I was looking to make my appliques more realistic, so some of the sheep in this pattern have 3-D ears, and tails. That adds to the charm of the quilt. The second photo shows a different arrangement (and one sheep not in the pattern). It is quilted on my home sewing machine. The first photo is not quilted because there is not enough space to quilt it properly, as I was having too much fun embroidering. There is always the possibility of just stretching the quilt on a set of stretcher bars and framing it. If you are looking for a unique project that will keep you occupied while on vacation, or commuting or just plain waiting for kids at practice, or while having treatments at the hospital, this project will add many hours of enjoyment to your life. When you are finished you'll have an heirloom quilt to pass down for generations. What makes this quilt unusual is that all the animals are felted 2-D appliques. In my first felted quilt, Crazy Sheep (51" x 51"), some of the sheep were pinstriped (men's suiting) wool applique fabrics. I invented this felting technique, using appliques with the felting so you can know where the edges of your designs are. I went to town on the second felted quilt, the Sheep Wannabees (69" x 69"). Both of these patterns are listed on this website. A kit could be made up for you with any of these items you might need for making this pattern:The wool fabrics in colors similar to the sample photo on the pattern...$60.00 This includes extra fabric to use for appliques, and the 5" borders.Ten 4" x6" baggies of natural colors for Sheep and hand dyed wool fibers for grasses and pumpkins, poppies, and trees $32.00Clover's Felting Tool #8901 three needles in a pink holder $14.50Five replacement needles $7.75 Beginners break needles as they are learning how to use the tool straight up and down to poke fibers.Upholstery foam 6" x 8" x 2" $4.00 Message me at ebay and I will make up a listing for you.
