Description: Your typical vintage barn or gas station light is nearly always badly in need of new gaskets because the old ones have dried up, cracked, or otherwise deteriorated beyond being of any use. And many of those old gaskets were made of asbestos, a safety hazard. Here is the same gasket we use to refurbish all of our vintage barn lights, 95 percent of which have a six-sided socket opening at the top, nearly all of them the same size opening from brand to brand, including Benjamin, Abolite, Silva-King, Spero, and other brands. This factory-cut gasket is made of a safe, non-asbestos material perfectly suited to these "RLM" type fixtures. The gasket provided is machine cut using a die, perfectly round, and provides a cushion between the socket and the porcelain enamel shade as well as between the socket nut and the shade, and makes it easy to tighten the nut to make a nice seal at the top of the fixture, while ensuring that the socket nut will release, and not seize, when it needs to be loosened. Each waterproof composite gasket measures about 1.5" inside diameter and about 2.25" outside diameter. A typical light fixture should have TWO of these gaskets, one between the shade and top nut, and one between the shade and socket. The price is per gasket, with discounts when you buy more than one -- you also save on combined shipping when ordering more than one. Quoted shipping is to lower 48 states. Check our impeccable feedback and know that this quality item is accurately described and photographed, and will be shipped promptly. Thank you.
