Description: "Amazing seller. A1 communication. Item in very good condition. Aside from receiving the item as described, I received a refund for shipping that came out lower than the actual. Thank you, Matt! I appreciate you."-- Traveling Wilbury Guitar Buyer, November 2022 NEVER PLAYED, Higher End Gretsch Electric Guitar: Traveling Wilburys TW-500; Solid Maple Neck As huge fan of the individual musicians in The Traveling Wilburys well before their debut 1987 album Volume 1, I was thrilled when the Gretsch Guitar Company released a series of fun, collectible guitars in 1988. A big thumbs up goes to Gretsch designer for perfectly integrating Wilbury visual aesthetics and branding to the instruments. A large, full color montage of vintage music instrument-based imagery and text was screen printed in random positions on the top side of the pearl white base body. Because of the technique, no two tops are the same. COLLECTORS NOTE: The top side includes a full printing of the band's name in late retro lettering. It is an extremely rare feature and fetches a premium for future selling. The body's back presents factory engraved, authentic band member signatures using pseudonyms. The legends planned to remain as low key as the music they created, not wanting their real names and fame to influence album sales. Well, good luck with that. Their true identities became known immediately and the rest is history: The Traveling Wilburys is considered by many as the greatest ever music "supergroup." The guitar line up's public release was personally encouraged by George Harrison as he played one in the Wilbury's first video "Handle With Care." Who didn't watch it the time and say, "Hey, what's with that wild guitar George is playing and how can I get one?" The example offered in this listing is the full size, upper-end Model TW-500, I bought for big money in 1988. It's one out of several models I picked up over the year. Yes, I had a case of Wilburymania and built a nice collection. It's now time to set a few free for others to enjoy. Though fully playable, no one would mistake these Korean Made (not Chinese) instruments for master builds. In my opinion, all Traveling Wilbury Guitar models were intended as fully playable collectibles, not daily gig players, despite the high retail premiums music shops put on them at the time. One exception might be the rare Model TW-600 offering more costly features such as Floyd Rose branded bridge hardware that fetch huge money today. The overall condition is as purchased from the music store 35 years ago, minus expected natural aging. It's never been played, only stored. There are no handling dings, scapes, or scratches. Over the decades, it's common for the white paint to yellow. This example is clean, and crisp, with little to no yellowing. The chromium plated hardware is clean and corrosion-free. Under close scrutiny, there might be a couple of paint imperfections originating from the factory -- all Wilbury guitars had them. Also included is the original full color box with minimal storage marks -- excellent for its age. Also along for the ride is the original bag of accessories. It's a complete package. PLEASE NOTE: Unlike other models in the Wilbury guitar lineup, the Model TW-500 setup was designed without tremolo bar play, similar to the Fender Telecaster. If you're looking to create a complete set of Mint condition Wilbury guitars for the ages, I highly recommend you look at this Model TW-500 offering. Examples this fresh and original are hard to come by today. I apologize in advance for the high shipping cost. It's a big and heavy item that gets penalized by the Post Office and UPS. I am proud of my over 1,300 transactions, 100% seller feedback rating, and happy repeat buyers. I describe items to the best of my ability, and photos posted are of the actual item. Your guitar will be respectfully packed and sent within 24 hours of your payment posting.
