Hardcover with its original, First State dust jacket, NOT price-clipped! Original price of $24.00. Published by Knopf: New York, 2005. Boldly SIGNED by the celebrated author! NOT inscribed, simply SIGNED by the great Kazuo Ishiguro! Please note there is another signature present on the same page! Initially, we believed the signature had some importance and might increase the value of this copy. Unfortunately, we have been unable to ascertain, with an acceptable degree of certainty, the identity of the other individual who also signed this book. The signature appears to have been made with the same or similar pen. Since we cannot say for certain who the other signature belongs to, we must proceed with an abundance of caution and simply assume it is the signature of a previous owner. We were somewhat reticent to do this because there is actually a previous owner signature on the ffep/first blank page. The names are different and it seems odd that two previous owners would add their signature to this book. Still, we must assume that both of the additional signatures are simply previous owners and add no monetary value or have any important/cultural significance. If anything, they should be viewed as an unfortunate flaw. A TRUE First American Edition/First Printing/First State with ALL First Edition Points present! Please remember this is the First AMERICAN Edition, NOT the U.K. First. This rare treasure has some clearly visible wear, but is still in lovely, Highly Collectible condition! The book appears gently read and other than the previous owner signatures we mentioned earlier, has no internal writing, no foxing, no remainder marks, no missing pages and is NOT Ex-Libris or a BCE. The binding is holding tight and the pages are still surprisingly crisp and clean! Some general/shelf wear along with creases/scuffing/wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards and creases/wear to some of the pages, NOT affecting the text! This copy would be in gorgeous, Fine condition if not for the unfortunate wear that is present near/along the bottom edge of some of the pages. Please note the wear to the spine/corners/cloth boards, particularly noticeable near/along the edges! The wear is clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. As mentioned before, there are TWO previous owner signatures! Both signatures were written in pen with one being located on the ffep/first blank page and the other being located on the same page as Ishiguro's. Both signatures/pages have been closely photographed for your consideration. The original, First State dust jacket is fully intact and NOT price-clipped! Some general/shelf wear along with creases, chipping, scuffing and marks. Please note the wear on the spine, at the corners and near/along the edges! The wear, particularly near/along the edges, is clearly visible and should be carefully examined/considered. We tend to grade the condition of our books rather harshly and took into consideration any and all wear when determining the value of this rare book. We purposely and closely photographed what we consider to be the most obvious and egregious wear.
