Description: This Pulsar LED P3 3100 Time Computer is a vintage piece from 1974 with a stainless steel bracelet and case with a brushed finish. It features a red dial with day/night and date indicators, as well as a 12-hour dial. The watch is powered by a quartz movement and comes with its original box and papers, as well as a manual/booklet. The deployant closure ensures a secure fit, while the screwback caseback adds a touch of elegance. This watch comes in its original Time Computer type 3 Blue Box and original, unrepaired 3013 magnet-set module. Original "C" setting magnet still in bracelet clasp. Uncommonly, this watch retains a 14-link bracelet; which can fit a 7.5" (19cm) wrist (full bracelets are 15 links). This is also the exquisitely more flexible and desirable solid-link-type bracelet, seldom-seen on P3 models. The clasp closes solidly and reliably. Flawless, very bright LED display. All original paperwork, and spare setting magnet, is included in this remarkable package. The Date/Command was Time Computer's flagship model. Introduced in the fall of 1973 (along with the Date2, which was not available until early 1974), it was the first Pulsar to offer the Date feature. The designer, Jean Wuischpard, also did design work for Bulova and Omega. It was an immediate, roaring success (I bought one, new, back in March of 1974), eventually becoming available in no less than ten variations, some of which, especially the 18K models, are extremely rare (for instance, the 3140, done in all-solid 18K gold, is known to the extent of less than ten). In stainless and gold filled, it is the most-available of any of the Pulsar models, with an estimated production of 120-140 thousand pieces. Perhaps only a third (maybe as few as a fourth) of those are still functioning, 50 years later, making original, working examples highly desirable collector's items. Watches in extraordinarily good condition, as we see here, are particularly sought-after. Considering that this watch just celebrated its 50th birthday, it still looks as futuristic now, as it did when it left the Lancaster, Pennsylvania factory half a century ago, which I would suggest is the ultimate test of a truly brilliant and timeless design. Above and beyond everything else, this watch also boasts a near-flawless crystal bearing the prestigious Neiman-Marcus logo. Time Computer had sales agreements with both Tiffany and Neiman-Marcus, but Tiffany did the bulk of sales; there are six to eight Tiffany Pulsars for just one Neiman-Marcus. Also, contrary to popular belief, Pulsars leaving those stores did so in their original Time Computer boxes; it was a condition of the sales agreement.Certain to be a central highlight of the new owner's collection.
