Also known as 'Black Amber', jet is a variety of lignite coal. Jet is a stone belonging to the organic gemstones category, along with pearls, amber and coral. It is formed from fossilized wood, formed by the submersion of driftwood in the mud of the seafloor for millions of years until it compacted and fossilized. This jet was mined in Mongolia and shaped in China. Metaphysical Attributes: Jet traditionally is used to dispel fearful thoughts. It brings calm and can diminish depression. It is a good stone for protection against illness and violence and is also protective in business and enhances financial stability.
