He has also been chair of the ABA Checklist Committee. Dunn is a co-author of National Geographic Birding Essentials (Fall 2007) and has a long history with NGs Field Guide to the Birds of North America, having served as chief consultant for four previous editions and as co-editor for the fifth.Jonathan Alderfer, co-author, is a widely published author and field guide illustrator. One of the nations foremost bird artists, he is well known in the birding community for his expertise as a field ornithologist and for his knowledge of N. Amer. birds. A former editor of Birding, the American Birding Associations magazine, he also served on the Maryland/D.C. Bird Records Committee.
